Since the beginning of 2017, I’ve been doing some research. I stumbled upon a great article, “How the Wrong Houston Office Chair Will Ruin Your Workday”, that I would like to share with you! Having hurt my back years ago, and again recently, I’ve decided to share some important information to help keep you healthy at work. Here is the truth… We work for money! Plain and simple. We don’t show up at an office just because the bosses like our smiling faces. It is what we do to provide for our families and prepare for retirement. Most of us would not got to our jobs if we did not need to pay bills and save for the future. With that being said, the question now becomes; How can you go to work and be productive if you are injured?
Work = money. Money = bills being paid and responsibilities met. Less stress = better health.
I’m going to talk about chairs in the next three articles. Many of us sit at a desk every day. We don’t give a lot of thought to what we are sitting in. Most of us use the chair that’s been at that desk for many years and through different users. Does it fit you? How do you feel? Are you comfortable? Surprisingly most don’t even sit in a chair, they perch. Yes, there is even a term for it. Perching on the edge of the chair, while working. It’s bad for the back and adds extra pressure on the spine, legs and feet! Think about it, we spend hours perching and we don’t even realize that we are doing it. This bad posture is what causes us to feel tired and sluggish, even though we have been sitting. When we sit at our desk, our hips should be at the back of the chair and our spine should be straight.
We have all heard the term “ergonomics”. We all have seen different items to help one work safely, without causing overuse strains and surgeries.
